Chronic Pain in Metro Atlanta? Explore Nonsurgical Treatment Options

Chronic Pain in Metro Atlanta? Explore Nonsurgical Treatment Options

If you’re living with chronic pain, a morning commute, walking through the grocery store, sitting at a desk, or getting comfortable at night may become a daily negotiation with discomfort.

You may have already tried medications, rest, or home remedies without getting the lasting improvement you hoped for. The good news is that surgery is not automatically the next step.

Depending on the source of your pain, several nonsurgical treatments may help reduce symptoms, improve movement, and make everyday activities easier. That’s our goal here at Pain Care LLC.

We’re a top-tier, Georgia-based pain management practice with a team of specialists who work to find a treatment approach that fits your condition rather than simply treating pain in isolation. Here’s how we do it.

Finding the source of your pain

Chronic pain is not a single condition. Back and neck pain, arthritis, nerve pain, sciatica, joint problems, and pain related to previous injuries can all require different strategies.

That is why a thorough evaluation matters. Your Pain Care provider may review your medical history, symptoms, physical function, and request imaging or diagnostic testing when appropriate.

Understanding where the pain originates can help determine which treatments are most likely to be useful. A personalized plan is generally more helpful than simply trying one treatment after another.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation

Physical therapy is often an important part of nonsurgical pain care. Rather than focusing only on temporary symptom relief, therapy can work on strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and movement patterns.

For example, someone with recurrent low back pain may benefit from exercises designed to strengthen the muscles that support the spine. A person recovering from a joint injury may need a different program to restore mobility and function.

Our goal is to help you move more confidently and reduce the underlying factors that often lead to recurring pain.

Targeted injections and nerve blocks

When pain is coming from a specific joint, nerve, or area of the spine, we may consider an injection. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment could include an epidural injection, facet or joint injection, sacroiliac injection, or trigger-point injection.

Nerve blocks can also help us confirm a diagnosis in addition to providing temporary pain relief. By numbing a targeted nerve or structure, your Pain Care provider may gain useful information about where symptoms are originating. For longer-term relief, we may recommend a procedure such as radiofrequency neurotomy.

Injection therapy or nerve blocks are not appropriate for every patient, and the benefits vary according to the underlying condition. That’s why we base our treatment recommendations on evaluation results rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Medication and other conservative approaches

Depending on your diagnosis, your treatment plan may also include medications, activity modifications, or other supportive therapies. The right combination depends on your symptoms, overall health, medications, and goals.

A comprehensive approach that combines several conservative therapies typically yields better results than relying heavily on a single treatment.

Minimally invasive vs. traditional surgery

At Pain Care, our treatment options include a range of advanced, minimally invasive, and often outpatient procedures that resolve pain without large incisions or months-long recovery.

When more conservative therapies don’t provide adequate relief for sciatica, herniated discs, compression fractures, or other chronic pain conditions, these advanced treatments may offer solutions.
