Pain Care, LLC
Interventional Spine & Pain Management located in Stockbridge, GA & Griffin, GA
Chronic pain impacts more than just your body, it can influence your mood, thoughts, and overall quality of life.
At Pain Care, we understand that effective pain management begins with understanding the full picture of how pain affects you, both physically and emotionally.
Our behavioral health team provides comprehensive behavioral health assessments designed to identify emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors that may influence your pain experience. These assessments allow us to take a proactive approach to your mental health and help guide next steps in your overall care plan.
Behavioral Health Assessments: What to Expect
Behavioral health evaluations are an important part of developing a personalized pain management plan. After your New Patient consult, you will be referred for a behavioral health assessment, which is conducted virtually over the phone. During this evaluation, a behavioral health coordinator will speak with you to better understand your emotional well-being and overall needs.
You may be asked about:
- Your daily activities.
- Emotional factors such as stress, anxiety, or depression.
- Your medications and how you are taking them.
- Your family history.
These assessments also help our providers ensure safe, appropriate care, especially when evaluating the use of medications that require careful monitoring.
After Your Assessment
Following your evaluation, a licensed clinician will review your results and discuss recommendations to best support your needs. Our clinician may recommend incorporating supplements like B12 or omega-3, along with lifestyle adjustments such as increasing social engagement, regular exercise, and improving sleep habits. Based on your assessment, you may be referred to trusted professionals such as:
- A clinical psychologist
- Neurologist–Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- A clinical psychiatrist
- Or another mental health clinician
These referrals are made to ensure you receive the specialized care and support that aligns with your unique situation. Our goal is to promote a balanced approach to pain management, addressing both the mind and body to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.
Why Behavioral Health Matters in Pain Management
Mind–Body Connection:
Chronic pain doesn’t just affect your body—it also impacts your emotions and thought patterns. Understanding this connection helps patients manage their pain more effectively.
Coping and Resilience:
Behavioral assessments help identify emotional challenges and build awareness of coping skills that support better pain management and overall functioning.
Safe, Comprehensive Care:
By understanding behavioral and psychological factors, we can reduce the need for high-risk treatments and support a more complete, patient-centered approach to pain management.
